Hello everyone !
Today, a big post ! Indeed, I'm very proud to show you a big part of my participation as a generalist on my graduation movie.
My role was actually not the same as everyone else. Indeed, I've been chosen to be a generalist due to the fact that I can work on a lot of aspects of the production, due to my interest in modeling, lookdev, and rendering.
To put in application all of the things I've learned during my past three years, I was given the task to create an entire environment, in which a big part of our movie takes place.
The movie takes place in a 1920's Cabaret in Paris, and this environment is the backstage, that had to be industrial, creepy, dusty with objects that remind us that we are in the beginning of the last century.
The big triangular metal piece you can see in the middle is an aquarium. Because the main element of the cabaret isn't a woman as we can find in the Moulin Rouge or other french cabarets from the last century, but here, it's a Mermaid named Nérée. This Aquarium is basically the place where she sleeps, small, dirty, insecure.
The shot I've chose to render here, is when the aquarium will shatter into pieces, letting the water flow inside of the room.
Of course, even if all the assets, environment and rendering were made by myself, the water explosion FX has been made by my dear friend Sacha Amsalem (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sacha-amsalem-535b8811b/) and the compositing by my friend Téo Prunier-Méline (https://www.linkedin.com/in/teo-prunier-meline/). They did an anstounding job, and I encourage you to see their profiles.
This shot actually took quite some time and I really hope you'll like it ! Thanks for reading and I wish you a very pleasant day !
